GENERAL
Are you open all year round?
Yes we are!
I have a food allergy/sensitivity, can you accommodate me?
Yes! Please notify us before your stay and talk to our chef, Warner, about any concerns. Our menu has Paleo, Keto, gluten-free and vegan options, and any meal can be adjusted to fit your other dietary preferences.
How do I get to the beach and shops from Jungle’s Edge?
We are located just off the main road that leads into town. Both the beach and downtown Guiones are within walking distance, but we are happy to call you a tuk-tuk to get you to and from home base.
Should I bring a bug net for the glamping huts?
It is not essential, but you are more than welcome to bring one. Our glamping hut walls are triple screened to protect from critters while still ensuring airflow. They are not completely insect-proof, so if you feel most comfortable with a bug net, that’s most important!
What are the seasons like and is there ever a bad time to come?
We don’t think there’s ever a bad time as both seasons offer something truly special! Dry season is generally Dec-May and Wet Season is generally June-Nov. The rain will be at its heaviest in September.
Is there consistent cell reception and wifi?
We offer access to high-speed internet all across our grounds, but cell reception is weak in our corner tucked into the jungle. Luckily you don’t need to go far to reach better reception if needed! Most cell providers have WIFI calling too, which works great!
What should I bring with me?
Light clothing, swimwear, and sunblock are all essential. During the rainy season, we recommend a waterproof bag and bug repellent, and for the sunny season a good hat.
What is there to do in the area?
There are options for Surf Lessons, Waterfall Hikes, ATV Tours and more. You can drop in (or join Our Retreats) for on site Jiu-Jitsu and Muay Thai, too. We recommend checking out yoga spots, North Guiones for bars and such, and of course Playa Guiones for the beach and sunset.
What are the hours for reception?
7 AM to 8 PM.
What are the hours for the pool?
8 AM to 6 PM.
Is there security? Do the rooms have a safe?
We have motion-sensored security cameras positioned around the property in case of any concerns. Our “security guard” is named Rosco, he is an energetic and very friendly Doberman! We always have staff on-site and a front gate that can be securely locked. Yes, all rooms have a safe!

OUR RETREATS
What does Our Retreats mean?
At Jungle’s Edge we offer Our Retreats, which anyone solo or couple or any group size can join. They’re year round, all inclusive and are for Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai Kickboxing, Surfing and Yoga. Prices include everything except airport shuttle, alcohol and tours/excursions (though those can be added on online for a special rate). We have constant classes for BJJ and Muay Thai, Surf shuttles, boards and instructors and we have partnered with Bodhi Tree Yoga Resort, located just a couple blocks away, to offer their full Yoga Schedule.
Can I come for a BJJ/Muay Thai/Surf/Yoga retreat, but my spouse/partner/friend wants to do a different retreat OR just needs room/board and the meal plan?
Absolutely and in fact this is very common. We have couples and friends come together often. You CAN mix and match BJJ, Muay Thai, Boxing & Yoga. Ex: If someone in your party wants to do the BJJ retreat, and another the Yoga retreat, just book the party leader’s retreat and add adults to the room. Then you can email us who wants to do what. There is no price difference for BJJ, Muay Thai & Yoga and you will have unlimited access to all. Other Ex: If someone in your party just wants the meal plan, and no activities, or someone wants to do the Surf Retreat, and another the BJJ/Muay Thai or Yoga, email us at junglesedgeretreats@gmail.com for a direct custom package.
Can I bring my kids?
Of course! We even offer Kids BJJ and Kids Muay Thai! They can take surf lessons, too!
How many lessons/sessions are offered per day?
This will look different depending on your primary activity. Surfers have the option of going to the beach twice a day, morning and evening. Muay Thai class and Jiu-Jitsu are quite frequent and you can find our Dojo Schedule here. Our yogis have access to Bodhi Tree’s yoga schedule and may attend whichever classes they desire. Our dojo is always open for use and all guests are welcome to attend as many different sessions as they can fit into their day! Our Retreaters can join any class and non retreat guests can pay drop in rates as often as they please.
Are surf equipment rentals included in the surf retreat?
It’s all included! Please talk to our staff to sign out a board for the day or week. There is a surf rental fee for those that are not on the Surf Retreat package.
Is transportation included?
Shuttles before or after your stay, as well as airport shuttles, can be arranged by our staff, but are not included in the cost of your retreat. Surf Retreaters get free Beach Shuttle and Yoga Retreats get free shuttle to and from Bodhi Tree.
How many meals are included in the retreat?
We serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily at our onsite restaurant. For Our Retreaters, dinner on arrival, 3 meals daily, breakfast departure, morning coffee & tea. All meals are made from scratch in house and served fresh.
When I book a Jungle’s Edge retreat, do I have access to the other retreat disciplines as well?
When you book a retreat with us for Jiu-Jitsu, Muay Thai or Yoga, they’re all interchangeable. You can do unlimited sessions on our schedule for any of those disciplines. Surf Retreats can interchange any of their morning lessons for any of the aforementioned disciplines, too, but non Surf Retreaters can not interchange a Dojo or Yoga session for a Surf Lesson as its an additional charge.
What is the daily schedule like?
An average day here looks different depending on your passion. Our martial artists and yogis will structure their days around the schedules for those classes, while our morning and evening surf shuttle will follow the surf forecast. We usually rise early and head to the beach before the wind and sun intensify. In order to accommodate everyone and their respective schedules, we have flexible mealtime hours. Breakfast can be ordered from 7-10 am, lunch from 12-2 pm, and dinner from 6:30-8:30 pm. Either swing by the onsite restaurant, A Cachete, to socialize with other guests or order to your private room! Outside of these times for meals and activities, you are free to explore the town, book a tour with us, jump in our world class pool or find a quiet corner to work or relax on the property. Choose your own adventure!
Disclaimer: Silver plan includes dinner arrival day, breakfast and dinner during your retreat, breakfast departure day. Gold plan includes dinner arrival day, breakfast, lunch & dinner during your retreat, breakfast departure day, as well as (1) smoothie or juice per day from check in to check out.
